Gnocchi of Fortune: the Italian 29th-of-the-month tradition at Cantina do Délio
On the 29th of every month, the Cantina follows an old Italian legend: gnocchi on the table and a small gift for whoever tries it, for good luck.

From the house archive, originally published in 2018 and updated in October 2026.
Legend has it that, on a 29th, Saint Pantaleon was wandering hungry through an Italian village and knocked on a door asking for food. The family was poor but didn’t hesitate: they shared with him the little they had, a plate of gnocchi.
After the meal, the saint went on his way. When the family cleared the table, they found money under every plate. Ever since, every 29th carries the tradition of Gnocchi of Fortune, or good luck.

The 29th at the Cantina
Cantina do Délio honours its roots and never lets the date go by. On the 29th of every month, anyone who orders a dish with handmade gnocchi gets a small surprise, for good luck.
In Brazil, the tradition has its own rituals. Many people put a banknote under the plate before eating and then keep it in their wallet, to bring prosperity the following month.
May every 29th bring plenty of luck, in the tastiest little corner of Italy in Curitiba.
